Blue Plasma makes use of the fourth state of matter. Plasma is an ionized gas that is made by adding energy to a regular gas. In an ionized state, electrons are separated from atoms, creating a mix of ions and free electrons. Plasmas are common: examples are lightning, neon lighting, or Northern Lights.
Cold atmospheric plasma is ionized air containing reactive nitrogen species (RNS) and reactive oxygen species (ROS) and can be used very effectively for cleaning and disinfection without the use of added chemicals. When brought in contact with water, Plasmas will transfer reactive properties to water.
Plasma Activated Water, made with only electricity, air and water, has disinfecting properties and is very easy to use. When compared to more traditional methods for cleaning and disinfection, it is easier to use than most chemical methods, and it is extremely sustainable as well.
It has the added benefit that plasma gas and plasma activated water can be very easily reach all ‘nooks and crannies’ and is therefore a great alternative to UV-C light based disinfection technologies.
